How to be effective with your journaling:
·        Choose the question that most stands out to you for your journal writing.
·        Set a timer for 20 Minutes
·        In that 20 minutes write down everything that comes to mind (emotions, thoughts, beliefs, facts, what you want to do, what you did, what happen, how it made you feel, etc.)
·        This journal is for you and you only. No one else needs to read or see it.
·        Once the 20 minutes is up taking another 5-10 minutes to reflect on the journal. What did you learn, what is in your control, what can you do next time to make the situation better, who do you need to talk, etc.
·        Allow yourself to sit with whatever emotion or thoughts come up
·        After words delete, shred, burn, throw away the journal
Mind-Body Connection:
When we do not knowledge our emotions, they do not simply go away. They become suppressed and cause physical pain or illnesses. We as humans believe it is more socially acceptable to be in physical pain than to express our true emotions. We tend to feel uncomfortable if we have any other emotions besides joy and happiness. Therefore, our thoughts and feelings become physical rath then emotionally expressed.
TMS (Tension Myoneural Syndrome) discovered by Dr. John Sarno
TMS is lack of oxygen rich blood supply- when we are stressed, we hold our breath and tighten our muscles to suppress any emotion or thoughts. Doing so we cut off oxygen to our blood system and the extremities of our body start to lack oxygen rich blood cells.
