Migraine Headaches

What is mind-body connection?

The mind-body connection refers to the correlation between an individual's thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors and their physical health. While the impact of emotions on the body has been recognized by scientists for some time, recent research has shed new light on the extent to which emotions can influence health and longevity.

Understanding the emotions suppressed into our physical pain, embracing the rooted emotions to heal the physical pain.

Use these journal prompts to dig deeper into the emotional root of the physical pain. These questions don't always hit the surface level, their deep emotions and the questions will only make sense when you dig deep into yourself. Ask yourself what was happening in your life around the time the pain or illness started to occur, what thoughts were going through your mind, what emotions were coming up but pushed away? Start with one question that stands out to you. It's not always that every question will be for you.

This can be the hard part but stop allowing yourself to focus on the physical symptom. When the physical symptoms comes up remind yourself that there is nothing physically wrong. Ask yourself what am I thinking about? What emotion is trying to come to surface?

When it comes to Physical pain or illness specially one you have suffered with for a while you may have a go to process of making the symptoms go away. You also may notice that they don't stay away. This is because your body has made it a placebo effect. I have been in this position many times before that I would tell myself that either only a treatment like massage or chiropractic would help, that I was going to have to be on medication the rest of my life, I was allergic to something, or nothing helps I just have to deal with it. The last one was the one that took me over the edge. I didn't want to spend the rest of my life dealing with this symptom. There must be more ways to help.

I'm blessed I learned of the mind-body connection and I hope that it brings you as much freedom from your symptoms as it has done for me.

My go to books Joe Dispenza has been learning and teaching the mind-body connection for many years. After a horrible bike accident that shattered his spine he dedicated his life to learning the power of healing yourself.

The healing questions guide is my go to for all my questions that are related to my physical pain. This book can not be on audio do to it being more like a dictionary. Needless I have this book with me at all times! Anytime I, family or friend wishes to know the emotion behind their symptom I am happy to look it up.

Journal questions:

  1. What will it take to accept love from unexpected places?

  2. What will it take to stop trying to earn my right to be loved?

  3. What will it take for me to understand that it is not what I do that will matter in the end it is who i become that matters?

  4. What goals am I striving for just to prove I am lovable? What would be a better reason to perform?

  5. What unreasonable expectations am I placing on myself to earn love and approval?

How to be effective with your journaling:

·         Choose the question that most stands out to you for your journal writing.

·         Set a timer for 20 Minutes

·         In that 20 minutes write down everything that comes to mind (emotions, thoughts, beliefs, facts, what you want to do, what you did, what happen, how it made you feel, etc.)

·         This journal is for you and you only. No one else needs to read or see it.

·         Once the 20 minutes is up take another 5-10 minutes to reflect on the journal. What did you learn, What is in your control, what can you do next time to make the situation better, who do you need to talk, etc.

·         Allow yourself to sit with whatever emotion or thoughts come up

·         After words delete, shred, burn, throw away the journal

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Hi, my name is Brittney Stofferahn.

I am a certified mindbody coach through "Pain Free for Good" by Heather Peterson. I am also a certified yoga instructor. I help others take back control of their lives so they may enjoy more of the things they love and let go of negative thoughts and false beliefs that hold them back. By bringing to the surface the root of it all so that you may see and learn for yourself how all the control you need is in your hands and has been there the whole time.

Growing up I had to work through many challenging moments and how they affected me personally. From leaving a religion I was raised in, death of my father when I was 17 years old, and being true to myself even when I stood alone. I never seemed to find where I belonged. Everyone else seemed to think they had the answer for me. I spent years trying to find myself. I didn't give up when I had anxiety or depression, I didn't cave into temptation or the social norms. I wanted to stay true to me and what I wanted.
